R&B Switchgear Group (R&B) takes the lead on legacy Whipp & Bourne product range, as the current brand owner, BRUSH Switchgear, formally withdraws its support.
Having supported Whipp & Bourne switchgear assets for over 40 years, R&B is uniquely positioned to assist operators in maintaining, upgrading and servicing these critical systems.
Many of R&B’s team members were originally part of the Whipp & Bourne manufacturing workforce, including Group CEO & Founder, Mark Beswick, who began his engineering career as a Whipp & Bourne apprentice.
“Whipp & Bourne has been a part of R&B’s DNA from the very beginning,”
“We don’t just understand the equipment — we helped build it. As BRUSH focuses on their core product portfolio, we stand ready to ensure legacy system owners continue to receive best in class service & technical support.
“This legacy remains deeply embedded in our engineering culture and continues to guide the support we offer today”
Group CEO & Founder Mark Beswick
R&B holds over 100,000 Whipp & Bourne technical drawings and documents covering a wide range of equipment and designs. These are digitally stored on a centralised platform that can read and interpret the drawings, including those dating back to the early 1900s.
Sean Floyd, Head of Engineering at R&B Switchgear Group, added: “With BRUSH concentrating on future product development, we’re proud to continue supporting Whipp & Bourne equipment – a role we’ve fulfilled for decades. This isn’t just about business continuity; it’s about preserving the knowledge, standards and craftsmanship that defined these systems.”

R&B’s support spans the full heritage Whipp & Bourne range, including:
- CV/DV models: CV, DVC, DV31, DV40, DV53
- DC models: MM74 and MM81
- Medium Voltage: AH, AK, BH, BK, and IF types including IFR, IF6 and IFA
Many of these systems remain in operation today across the energy, transport, marine and defence sectors; including within the UK and US Navy, which is testament to their robust design and durability. R&B’s mission is to ensure these systems continue performing safely and efficiently for years to come.
R&B continues to deliver the same dedication and expertise that has defined its business for over four decades. The company offers a comprehensive range of services, including switchgear maintenance, retrofit and upgrade solutions, spare parts supply, and technical support for vital power systems worldwide.
